ALEXA Camera Brings Back True Cinema Feel

ALEXA cameras produce exceptional images that have the organic look and feel of film. The camera’s custom developed CMOS Bayer sensor is the same size as a 35mm film frame. This allows cinematographers to manipulate the format’s inherent shallow depth of field and to use the same unparalleled range of PL mount lenses available for 35 mm film cameras. ARRI Imaging Technology (AIT) ensures the most film-like, organic image quality of any digital camera with natural color rendition and pleasing skin tones, while the sensor’s 3.5K pixel count delivers an optimum in image sharpness, sensitivity and latitude for HD and 2K DI workflows.

Video Takes Flight

All the good little boys and girls (literally meaning all of us video geeks), are beginning to assemble our wish lists just in time for the holidays.  Like most of us, the most popular new toy on the list this year is a drone.  We have all seen the sample videos online and thought to ourselves, “damn, I gotta get me one of those!”  Video drones are definitely the greatest new trend in video production.  No more renting helicopters, or really big cranes.  Today, the drones are affordable, effective, and offer us a very unique way to get amazing shots.

Like most people, I did a bit of research to find out there are actually many drone options out there, and of course buyer beware.  Educate yourself before buying a drone to make sure you are getting the right product for the right production.

Here is a nice site comparing the most popular, affordable drones on the market.

Camera & Lens Rentals in Milwaukee

New business is always good for the consumer!  That’s what I always say when it comes to affordable prices.  Anyway, a great new rental business named Milwaukee Production Rental has a nice selection of entry level audio and video equipment for rent if the need ever arises.  If you are like me, and don’t have everything at the office, this is another great way to increase production value!

It’s an excellent place for renting lenses, lights, microphones, and DSLR cameras.  I have found that renting equipment can be a very affordable solution when it comes to the larger jobs.  It is nice to have another resource, like Milwaukee Production Rental on the block.
